Occupational Therapy

Does your child have difficutlies with their coordination, movement, sensory processing or independence skills?SA

Our Occupational Therapist can:

  • Evaluate a child's sensory processing skills.  This includes looking at their movement skills which come from integration of their vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile senses.
  • Assess fine motor skills including handwriting.
  • Advise on development of independence skills such as doing up buttons and using cutlery.

Initial Assessment

Will comprise of talking through a sensory profile questionnaire to gain a picture of your child's strengths and areas of difficulty.  There will also be a play based assessment in the therapy room or outside on playground equipment.  Your child may be asked to carry out specific movements based on Sensory Integration Theory.

Individual Therapy Sessions

Will be fun and play based.  They will take place in the sensory playroom, or outside in the garden or playground.  You will be encouraged to get involved alongside the therapist and you will be given practical ideas to take away that can be implemented in your home.
