Chatting and Singing with young deaf children
Practical ideas and activities put into practice - book and song CD.
Part 1: Chatting As many parents have requested, here are a few examples of the sort of things you could say and do when chatting with a young deaf child. They include everyday situations that might arise, but will vary from home to home. There are ideas for what you might say but you will know what feels right to you, so take these as guidelines only!
Part 2: Singing Singing with your child can go a long way towards solving many of the early issues with eye contact, turn taking and vocalisation. The idea of singing with a child who is not yet talking may seem a surprising one, but in fact singing with a child is in many ways easier for a young deaf child than conversation.
