Teens Summer School

31st July 2008 — 1st August 2008

Summer Activities for 11-16 year olds - 2 days of activities with sleep over

This year we are offering two days of activities for our ‘teenagers’.

The young people are invited to join us at 9.30am on the morning of Thursday July 31st. We will travel by minibus to Thornbridge Outdoors in Derbyshire, where we will spend time on their high ropes, low ropes and zip wire. You could check out their website at www.thornbridgeoutdoors.co.uk .

We will return to spend the evening at Marjorie Sherman House where we hope to enjoy a barbecue. There will be a short presentation by professionals on how a cochlear implants work with an opportunity to ask questions. We will also be inviting young adult cochlear implant users to come and share their experiences with us.

On Friday morning, after a good night’s sleep (!), we will be going to Patchings Art Centre to spend two hours there creating some Aboriginal art (www.patchingsartcentre.co.uk). We will return to the Ear Foundation for the afternoon where we hope to provide some sort of musical activity until 4pm.

To meet the registration criteria your child needs to be the relevant age during August 2008. The cost will be £65. Places will be limited to 15.

We realise that it is an early start on the Thursday. If anyone would like to spend the Wednesday night at Marjorie Sherman house with their child they would be welcome to do so. We normally ask for a donation of £25 for a family room.

To secure a place for your child or to find out any more information, please contact sam@earfoundation.org.uk

These two days will be exciting but challenging both physically and emotionally, and involve working as part of a team. The Ear Foundation reserves the right to select those children who will most benefit from the activities on offer
