The Ear Foundation

Welcome

We live in the most exciting time: The Ear Foundation introduced Cochlear Implants for deaf children to the UK in 1989 and now current hearing technologies provide the best potential ever for deaf children, young people and adults to hear, communicate and speak. But - the technology alone cannot do this. The Ear Foundation provides services which bridge the gap between the clinical settings where Cochlear Implants and other devices are fitted, and home, school and work, where they are used in everyday life.

We provide educational services in 3 main areas:

Family Services: Connect & Communicate

Our range of activities for deaf children, young people and adults together with their families.

Sound Advice

Education Programme

Workshops and training for the whole range of professionals involved in cochlear implantation, ensuring informed and up-to-date support for deaf children with cochlear implants wherever they live in the UK.

Sounding Board

Supported by a full range of resources »

Child and Family Centred Research

Research and development into the latest techniques to support children with cochlear implants. Qualitative research looking at family perspectives, young people with cochlear implants, education issues and communication & language developments
