Venue:   St John's School, Boston Spa, Yorkshire, UK

Date:      Sunday 23 July to Saturday 29 July 2017

Our European Friendship Week is an action packed week full of adventure, challenges and friendship building.  But it's also so much more than just a holiday.  We have a great week planned aimed to boost self-esteem and confidence in the young people, who are all wearing cochlear implants to listen and talk, and all share a unique understanding of what it is like to be a deaf young person living in our modern world.

This will be our 7th European Friendship Week for young cochlear implant users aged between 11 and 16 years old arranged.  It is hosted by The Ear Foundation and Euro-CIU (European Association of Cochlear Implant Users) and held at St John's School for the Deaf in Yorkshire.

The week is staffed by members of The Ear Foundation staff, St John's School for the Deaf staff and a team of trained volunteers.  This means that many of the team are very experienced in working with young deaf people.

"Thank you and all your colleagues very much for the enormous amount of effort we know was put in to the recent EFW.  Our son had an absolutely great time and came home clearly more confident and with his self-esteem raised.  He remains in contact with some of the friends he made.  We would like to thank the Ear Foundation for giving our implanted children the opportunity to grow like this, through experiences such as EFW".
