Marjorie Sherman House
Named after our late president, Mrs M R Sherman OBE PhD (Hon) and opened by His Grace The Duke of Devonshire, this house provides residential and rehabilitation facilities for implanted children and their families. Prior to its development, families had to find and fund their own accommodation, or travel from afar with the disadvantage that the children arrived for assessment or essential tuning of the implant system and rehabilitation, fractious, tired and uncooperative.
Families can now stay together in the house before and after clinical appointments reducing the anxiety of all concerned.
"The House has been a lifesaver. It is so comforting to be able to share the stress of implant with parents in the same situation. The house has an aura of peace and seems to give me inner strength enabling me to cope with my daughter's deafness."
Marjorie Sherman House has the following facilities:
- Two bedrooms, all with single beds, linen and towels provided
- Cots are available on request, advisable to bring own bedding
- Two bathrooms and an additional WC
- Fitted Kitchen
- Dining Room
- Information Room - literature available for families and delegates about hearing technologies
- Play Room
- Car Parking
*Please note car parking is in front of the accommodation building and not in front of the business building please

When families are staying, we suggest a donation of £40 per family, per night, we appreciate that some families may find this difficult, but we would be grateful of a donation of some amount to help us cover the costs and keep Marjorie Sherman House open. If possible, we ask whether donations can be made by Gift Aid.
For those attending courses, we invoice at a rate of:
- £40 for single occupancy
- £25 for twin occupany
- £20 for triple occupancy
These rates are per person per night. On occasions, when the House is fully occupied, we may ask whether people attending courses together would mind sharing a room. Alternatively, we can suggest local hotels.
