Date : 23rd February 2010
Duration : 1 day
Venue : The Ear Foundation
Cost :
£85.00
Course suitable for:
Teachers of the Deaf, Speech & Language Therapists
Course Description:
It is important to monitor the development of early communication skills in very young children and can be best done using video recordings of the child in interactions with a known adult, at regular intervals. The Tait video analysis has been designed to assess their preverbal skills, for example appropriate eye contact and conversational-style turn-taking, as these underpin the development of spoken language in all children. This workshop will provide you with the skills you need to use this video analysis.
This course will give you:
~ An introduction to the Tait Video analysis technique for monitoring early communication skills, including a discussion of the terminology, with examples on video.
~ Opportunities to discuss filming procedures and how to obtain the best video samples.
~ Time to work in small groups to transcribe a video recording.
~ Opportunities to enable participants to become familiar with some of the research outcomes as well as ongoing studies using Tait Video Analysis with young children with cochlear implants
